Our Mission Statement

 It is our mission to empower families to become self-sufficient and improve their quality of life.

The Housing & Opportunity Foundation of Kern (HOFK) assists residents in the county’s low income public housing, and those in the Section 8 program to become self-sufficient. The seniors, youth, and families we assist have sought us out in an effort to change their lives. There are many barriers for them to overcome: lack of education, little or no job experience or training, poor self esteem, and no positive role models. We help them help themselves by providing the resources, support and environment they need to become self sufficient members of society.
